Author Guidelines

General Guidelines

  1. Submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not simultaneously under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  2. Meyibó publishes works in either Spanish or English.
  3. Original manuscripts must be sent as an electronic file in Microsoft Word format to the following email address: meyibo.colaboraciones@gmail.com
  4. Contributions by the same author will not be published in consecutive issues. Authors must wait for a period of two years before publishing in the journal again.
  5. An acknowledgment of receipt will be sent within seven business days from the date the manuscript is received.
  6. Manuscripts that do not comply with the journal's editorial guidelines will not be accepted.
  7. Any unforeseen circumstances will be resolved by the editors and the journal's Editorial Board.

Articles

  1. Received articles undergo an initial screening where the editors and the Editorial Board determine if they meet the formal requirements established by the journal; if they do not, they may be returned to the authors.
  2. Following this initial review, articles will be submitted to a double-blind peer evaluation process.
  3. In the event of conflicting outcomes between the two initial reviews, the manuscript will be sent to a third reviewer.
  4. When the evaluation is favorable, authors must submit the corrected version addressing the reviewers' comments within a period not exceeding 45 days. This revised version of the article must be accompanied by an explanation of the changes made and the remarks that were dismissed, explaining the reasoning behind the decision.
  5. Articles must be preceded by a page containing the following data: 1) work title in both Spanish and English; 2) name of the author or authors, email address, and institutional affiliation; 3) an abstract (between 100 and 150 words) and keywords (between 4 and 6) in both Spanish and English. The abstract must clearly outline the objectives of the article, the nature of the sources, and the most relevant results.
  6. Texts should range between 8,000 and 15,000 words (Times New Roman font, 12 points, 1.5 line spacing), including notes and bibliographical references.
  7. Section titles must be in lowercase and bold, and subtitles must be in lowercase and italics.
  8. Illustrations (tables, graphs, and maps) should be strictly limited to those that are absolutely necessary. They must be submitted separately in grayscale JPG files, and their intended location within the text must be indicated. For illustrations that are not the author's own work, usage rights previously cleared by the author must be submitted.
  9. Images must follow an Arabic numeral sequence and must be accompanied by a title and the source from which they were obtained.
  10. Notes must be formatted as footnotes and properly numbered (Times New Roman font, 10 points, single spacing).
  11. No changes to the text will be permitted once it has been approved for publication.
  12. Bibliographical references in footnotes must follow the Chicago style, in accordance with the following specifications:
    • a) Books: First Name(s) Last Name, Title (Place of publication: publisher, year), page number(s).

  14. Archive acronyms must be provided in full the first time they are cited and should not be separated by periods.
  15. Documentary references should be formatted as follows: Archive, record group or collection, section, series, volume or tome (abbreviated), folder or file (abbreviated), document title, and folios.
  16. References to interviews and personal communications should be formatted as follows: Interviewee, Interviewer, date, and place of the interview.
For example: López Martínez, Carmen. Interview by Carlos Moreno, April 24, 2010 in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.

Authors must argue the relevance of the document and the reasons for its dissemination. These must be unpublished sources.
  2. Submissions must range between 6,000 and 8,000 words in length.
  3. Following an initial review by the editors and the Editorial Board, manuscripts in this section will undergo an anonymous evaluation by a specialist.
