Sections
The journal Meyibó has three permanent sections: unpublished articles, sources for history, and reviews.
Articles
Submitted articles undergo an initial screening where the editors and the Editorial Board determine if they meet the journal's formal requirements. Articles that do not meet these requirements may be returned to their authors.
After this initial review, the articles will undergo peer review using a double-blind system.
Once the manuscripts are received, the reviewers will have an estimated period of four weeks to issue their evaluation.
The reviewers will evaluate:
- The theoretical, methodological, and/or analytical framework.
- Clarity, analysis, and coherence.
- Significant contributions to the discipline of history, the humanities, or the social sciences that contribute to the generation of knowledge.
- The use of primary and/or secondary sources, and the relationship between these and the arguments presented in the proposal.
In case of discrepancies between the two evaluations, the text will be sent to a third reviewer.
When the evaluation is favorable, the authors must submit the revised version, addressing the reviewers' comments, within 45 days. This revised version of the article must include explanations of the changes made and the points that were discarded, along with a justification for the decision.
Articles must be preceded by a page with the following information: 1) title of the work in Spanish and English; 2) name of the author(s), email address, and the name of the institution to which they belong; 3) abstract of the article (between 100 and 150 words) and keywords (between 4 and 6) in Spanish and English. The abstract must clearly state the article's objectives, the nature of the sources, and the most relevant results.
Texts should be between 8,000 and 13,000 words (Times New Roman, 12-point font, 1.5 line spacing), including footnotes and references.
Section titles should be in lowercase and bold, and subtitles in lowercase and italics.
Illustrations (tables, graphs, and maps) should be kept to a minimum. They must be submitted separately as grayscale JPG files, and their placement within the text must be indicated. For illustrations not created by the author, the necessary usage rights, previously obtained by the author, must be provided.
Images should be numbered sequentially using Arabic numerals and accompanied by a title and source.
Footnotes should be numbered (Times New Roman, 10-point font, single-spaced).
No changes will be permitted after the text has been approved for publication.
Sources for History
This section will publish transcripts of documents, interviews, images, and other sources for historical research. Each transcript must be preceded by a presentation of the document (its origin or location) and a critical analysis of its content. The relevance of the document and the reasons for its dissemination must be argued. It must be from unpublished sources.
It should be between 6,000 and 8,000 words in length.
After review by the editors and the Editorial Board, the texts in this section will undergo anonymous peer review by a specialist.
The timelines and procedures for reviewing and correcting manuscripts in this section are the same as for articles.
Book Reviews
Book reviews will be published for books published no more than three years prior to the date of publication in the journal.
The Editorial Board will select the reviews based on their quality.
Reviews must include the complete bibliographic information for the book being reviewed, as follows: author (last name...), title of the book (in italics), place of publication, publisher, year, total number of pages, and ISBN.
The reviewer's name and institution must appear at the end of the text.
Reviews should be between 1,000 and 3,000 words.
After review by the editors and the Editorial Board, the texts submitted to this section will undergo anonymous peer review by a specialist.
Direct quotations, enclosed in quotation marks, must be followed by parentheses specifying the page(s) referenced.
