Artificial Intelligence Policy
Artificial Intelligence Usage Policy
Meyibó acknowledges that technological tools linked to so-called Artificial Intelligence fulfill certain functions in the drafting, review, and authentication of the historical research texts it publishes. Adhering to national and international conventions on the matter, this policy does not seek to inhibit the use of technological tools and Artificial Intelligence but rather to ensure transparency, with the understanding that their harmful and detrimental use damages the journal's reputation.
The journal's historical profile itself is sufficient proof that technological changes and any benefits that might be derived from the technical application of such computer resources do not replace the processes of authorship and the responsibility that this entails. Recognizing that only humanity creates and is capable of writing history, Meyibó acknowledges that Artificial Intelligence may fulfill instrumental functions in the preparation of submitted manuscripts, and therefore disapproves of plagiarism and any misuse of technological tools to supplant evidence or historical analysis.
The blind peer review process will not be disrupted by the influence of Artificial Intelligence, in the sense that the judgment and discernment behind the review and final decision on the publication (or non-publication) of each text remains the responsibility of human beings. The instrumental uses of the tools described here do not exempt users from declaring their names and details of their use. The detection of errors, in short, the work of proofreading and other fine aspects of manuscript preparation are the responsibility of Meyibó and the UABC Editorial Department.
Given the principle of publishing a generation and innovation of knowledge, it is assumed that Artificial Intelligence will increase in the coming years. Therefore, the journal's editorial committee will become the guarantor of the ethical use of non-human resources in the development of historical discourse.
