Meyibó is a word from the Cochimí language, which was anciently spoken in the California peninsula. The Jesuit Miguel del Barco (1706-1790) notes that the Cochimí people used it to designate the pitahaya season ("the Indians' main harvest, an excellent fruit, worthy of the greatest monarchs") and, by extension, a good harvest time or a period when the sun is favorable for pleasant tasks.
